RHESUS MACAQUE

8 1/2 INCHES HIGH      1995      BRONZE

The macaque is a native of northern Africa and south Asia, sacred in India, and close relatives of the baboons. The highly developed social structure of macaques is represented here by the mother-child connection, and paralleled by the spatial structure of the forms of the sculpture.
